Poppy's story

"The quietest little kitten finally found somewhere she felt safe."

Safety and trust

Poppy was the last kitten found from a litter discovered behind a neighborhood grocery store. Hidden behind boxes and wooden pallets, she was so quiet that rescuers nearly missed her.

Safe at the shelter, Poppy remained frightened and withdrawn. A patient volunteer began visiting her every afternoon, sitting nearby and speaking softly until Poppy slowly found the courage to approach.

One afternoon, the little calico climbed into the volunteer's lap and fell asleep. After spending so long trying to disappear, Poppy had finally found someone she felt safe enough to rest beside.
